Sweet Thursday
Posted by Communications
So, you won’t believe it…we’ve added a Thursday night service to the Herndon campus. Surprised? Probably not! Since the start of this year, we have created a lot more avenues for you, your friends, and family members to engage in a Summit service.
We call it Sweet Thursday—One: because it is on Thursday; Two: because we provide sweets (we do, but I don’t think that is why we named it that); Three: because it’s just a catchy title and we love John Steinbeck; and four: because it’s sweet to get a sermon preview before the weekend!
If you haven’t been to Sweet Thursday you should join us this Thursday from 6 p.m.-7:15 p.m. in the Sanctuary. Now that Waterford and The Plaza are in full swing, Isaac has begun taping the sermon for Sunday worship, and we would love for you to be part of the previewing audience. The format is simple: prayer, sermon, Q&A, and coffee and sweets afterward!
You may have noticed that I didn’t mention live music in Sweet Thursday’s format and the reason being is that Sweet Thursday is a different style of service then what you experience on Sundays. It is a bit more low-key, more intimate, and provides an opportunity for you to dig a little deeper into the sermon with a Q&A segment. We are excited about the service we are calling a “sermon preview” and we hope you’ll be too!
