Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida is a private, non-profit organization that collects, stores and distributes donated food to more than 450 non-profit partner agencies in six Central Florida counties in an effort to fight hunger.

The desire for shelter is a basic human need. As the cost of building materials escalates, home maintenance and improvements become increasingly unaffordable. Habitat for Humanity – Orlando ReStore addresses this problem by providing quality building materials at lower prices. ReStore proceeds go to help Habitat Orlando fulfill its mission.

Through A Gift for Teaching, local businesses are able to donate unused supplies or surplus merchandise to the Free Store for teachers. Then teachers from Central Florida’s highest-need schools can “shop” for free, making sure the 142,000 students in our community have what they need to learn.

The Russell Home for Atypical Children is the only private, non-profit facility of its kind for severely handicapped children in Central Florida.

The Salvation Army strives to meet the needs of individuals and families in crisis. Services include emergency material (food, clothing, etc.) assistance, Thanksgiving and Christmas assistance, Good Neighbor Energy Funds, nursing home and hospital visitation, Bridging The Gap (program for teens at risk) counseling and referrals.

Projects include helping with “Clean Conversations” by doing some light cleaning and visiting with the elderly who live in the towers.

The Sharing Center works to prevent homelessness in Seminole County by assisting low-income families with basic needs during financial emergencies caused by job loss and health problems.

Service Opportunities

Projects include volunteering as a receptionistor data entry clerk, sorting and organizing the center, styling and cutting hair in the salon, and performing electrical work.

Community Food & Outreach Center provides the resources and tools that help local families in need fight hunger by providing food at highly reduced and therefore more affordable prices.

Projects include helping out at the thrift store and food center by sorting, moving boxes, shelving items, and being a door greeter.

Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida is a non-profit organization working to return families and individuals to self-sufficiency.
