Who is the Marriage Prep Course for?

Those who are engaged, newly weds (married less then 2 years), or those who are seriously dating and considering engagement.

How often does Summit offer the Marriage Prep Course?

Twice a year. Once in the spring and once in the fall.

Where and when do the classes take place?

At the Herndon campus on Sundays from 3:45-6 p.m. (refreshments will be provided.)

How many classes are there in the series?

9 classes (there is no class over Easter or Labor Day weekend).

Is it OK to take the course if we know we will miss some of the classes?

We ask that you not miss more then two classes in order for you to truly benefit from the material and your group.

Love and respect
Sex and intimacy
Finances
Budgeting
Differences between men and women
Family influences, in-laws

What is the format of the course?

For the first hour, each couple meets in a small group with two other couples and one mentor couple. This time is used to learn from your mentor and the other couples. You will also go over your homework from the week during this time.

The second hour is an interactive teaching format in which a couple will teach about one of the above topics.

How much does the course cost and what does it cover?

The class costs $120 per couple

The cost covers the two workbooks you will receive and two assessments you will take. It also helps cover the cost of the refreshments that are provided during the class.

When do we pay for the classes?

Payment is required to register for the class.

How do we know if we were accepted into the course?

By completing the registration and and questionnaire, your spot is held in the course.

How do I apply for the Marriage Prep Course?

One person from each couple needs to complete the online registration. Both people need to complete the questionnaire (emailed separately) in order to hold your place in the course. Registration for the spring course will begin February 12, and will end when the class is full. Registration is on a first-come, first served basis.

If we will be getting married during the class, should we look at different options?

Many couples have gotten married during the course. They usually miss the week of their wedding and their honeymoon, but return to finish the course.

Are the couples provided with some sort of certificate at the end of the course that will enable us to get the discount on the marriage certificate?

Completion of Summit’s Marriage Prep class will provide you with a certificate which will enable to get a discount on your marriage license.

What are other options if we are unable to attend the course?

Private counseling or other local church which have marriage prep courses. Please email Marriage Prep for referrals.
