Living in a world so wrapped up within the urgent, eternal truth can seem only a distant cousin to immediate reality. The truth of God, his presence in each moment past, future and present—it’s easy to allow these things to take a back seat to items that seem more pressing. It’s easy to think we have to put reality on hold to think about God. But what if our reality collides with God’s reality, even when we’re living in the urgent? What if our lives, moment by moment, decision by decision, are part of an old, eternal story? What if all it takes for us to piece together our glimpses of heaven is to allow God to step from his eternal reality into our immediate one? To arrive. To Advent.
