Choose

29

In life there are lots of things you don’t get to choose like, where you are born, what your IQ is, how your face looks, etc. You can waste a lot of time lamenting the things you cannot choose or change by choosing. Perhaps worse, you can be proud of your good fortune or envious of another’s…. But in the end, we are much better off taking and assuming responsibility for what we can choose.

Outside of God himself, one of the most remarkable powers in this universe is the power of decision—of choosing. This power is not granted to us by some mystical force of the galaxy. The power to choose to affect eternal destiny is a unique reflection of the image of God…

Choice is God’s sacred trust and responsibility. Every day relationships get made or broken. Children get loved or neglected. People’s character gets strengthened or shipwrecked. Destinies are carved out because of this power of decision that God has given to human creatures.
