Our desire is to partner with churches around the world that are doing God-honoring work and caring specifically for vulnerable children and families.

Why We Serve

From our church’s beginning, we have felt called to be impactful not only locally but globally as well. We value making the most of our time and place in history and saw a need to support vulnerable communities in sub-Saharan Africa that were being impacted by the HIV/AIDS epidemic.

As the years have passed—and as amazing strides have been made in the fight against HIV/AIDS—we have continued to partner globally with wonderful organizations, churches, and missionaries to continue to focus on the most vulnerable in our global communities. This has taken shape in caring for vulnerable children and families through the support of and partnership with local churches in these communities.

How We Serve

Being cultural outsiders, we do not presume to be experts on how to do this work well and recognize the potential for unintentional harm. For this reason, our strategy as a church is not to start brand new poverty-alleviation initiatives, but rather to partner, in humility, with local leaders already doing good, God-honoring work in their own communities. Our goal is to seek to support one another in mutually beneficial partnerships, to determine which goals we can accomplish better together than we could separately.

Overcoming poverty is not a one-way street. Simply by being human, each of us faces the realities of poverty in our own lives and in our experience of brokenness—brokenness in our relationship with ourselves, others, God, and our material surroundings. In that knowledge, we hope to continue to move forward applying a spirit of humility and learning to pair good intentions with sound, healthy, poverty-alleviation strategies. We recognize that this will require partnership and an acceptance that we each have something to learn from the other. Addressing the injustices of this world is not simply about one person giving some of what they have to someone else; it is about people working together and locking hands, as they both in need walk toward Jesus and the eternal kingdom he has already started building in the here and now on earth.

Ways to get involved

Sponsorship

Sponsorship

Our long-standing partnership with Children’s HopeChest offers opportunities to sponsor children in several countries around the world. Through sponsoring, one gets the opportunity to communicate with a specific child and financially support their direct environmental, educational, emotional, and medical needs.

Teams

Teams

Multiple times a year, we send teams to join in the work happening in multiple countries in Africa and in the Dominican Republic. Team members commit to learning from local leaders about a new culture and how they can join to help care for vulnerable children and families. Each team aligns their purpose with work already happening in-country with hope of continuing to strengthen and empower the local community.

Hosting

Hosting

A few times each year, Summit is able to temporarily host students, pastors, church staff, and missionary families from abroad. We enjoy the opportunity to host them well, which often includes them staying in the homes of Summit folks when possible. Many types of hosting opportunities exist—from housing to transportation to hosting meals. Duration of hosting can be anywhere from a few days to a few months. If you’re interested in hosting one of our international guests or otherwise helping with their stay, email our Global Team for more details.

Meet Our Global Partners

Our desire is to form strong partnerships with existing ministries where we can unite together as individuals and organizations. God has always been on the side of the poor and needy. As his hands and feet, it is an honor to take our place in history and join the work he has already started in Africa and the Dominican Republic.
