Part 1
This portion of the class answers the question: “What does it mean to believe in Jesus?” and will be completed by you and your child at home prior to signing up for Part 2.
Step 1: Gather your class materials! You can download the booklet that corresponds to your child's grade as well as the activity cutouts by using the links below, or pick them up at your Summit location during Sunday service hours. The booklet will be used in both part 1 and part 2 of the class.
Step 2: Read or watch "The Terrible Lie" from The Jesus Storybook Bible (video available below) and answer the corresponding questions on page 4 in your Why Believe booklet.

Step 3: Watch the Why Believe: The Gospel Story video with your child and follow along in your booklet, writing your answers down or discussing the prompts aloud together.
Step 4: If, after completing the video and assignments, you and your child are interested in learning more about baptism, then you’re ready to sign up for part 2 of the class! Please note that completion of Why Believe parts 1 & 2 is a requirement for baptism for children at Summit.

Part 2
The second part of the Why Believe class answers the question: “What is baptism?” and will help you and your child decide if baptism is their next right step. Part 2 will include pre-work to be completed at home followed by a class held at either Summit Orlando or Summit Lake Mary.
Step 2: Prior to your class time, read or watch “Heaven Breaks Through” from The Jesus Storybook Bible (video available below) and answer the corresponding questions on page 13 in your Why Believe booklet.

Step 3: Attend your class! For this session, kids will join a small group study with their peers led by the children’s ministry staff, and parents will attend a class with a Summit pastor or leader.
Step 4: After completing both parts 1 & 2 of the Why Believe class, you’ll receive an email from your session leader with the upcoming baptism information and application for you and your child to complete should you decide to pursue baptism.
